 Critics of Coastal Hazards Fearful

...Christchurch Coastal Residents United has been highly-critical in Bay Harbour News of city council chief executive Dr Karleen Edwards' handling of the report and Mayor Lianne Dalziel's unwillingness to change LIMs.

Both Dr Latham and Mr Sintes are putting their hand up to be a part of the Coastal Futures Group, which has been formed out of discussions in the reference group. But Mr Sintes said a member had already been approached by the city council to be a part of the committee an...

CHRISTCHURCH Coastal Residents United say the city council gave them "false hope" when agreeing to collaborate on altering coast. Outrage over council rejection

Christchurch City Council chief executive Karleen Edwards says LIMs should not be wordsmithed by committee.

Chief executive Karleen Edwards said the council did not need to change the Land Information Memorandums (LIMs) for properties at risk of flooding or coastal erosion.

Coastal hazard information will stay on 18,000 Christchurch LIMs, but they will not stipulate whether the risk is from coastal erosion or inundation.

The Christchurch City Council is changing controversial coastal flooding and erosion information on thousands of property records.

The council announced on Monday it would alter 18,000 Land Information Memorandum (LIM) reports after a panel of scientific experts said last month coastal hazard information should be removed. The experts said maps used to identify at risk pr...

August 25, 2016

Coastal flooding and erosion information on Christchurch property records will be urgently reviewed, but it is not soon enough for residents who have threatened legal action.

The Christchurch City Council, at its meeting on Thursday, stopped short of immediately removing the details from Land Information Memorandum (LIM), despite pleas from residents to do so. The council instead decided to wait for chief executive Karleen Edwards to report back on the issue in two weeks.

A panel of scientific experts has told...
