100 Resilient Cities Network
Christchurch has been selected as one of the 33 cities worldwide to join the 100 Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities Network.
The global challenge to select cities for the Network had attracted applications from 372 cities. Each city was asked to present a clear and compelling description of how they are approaching and planning for resilience. The Foundation said that Christchurch's proposal stood out among these. The judging panel included former presidents Bill Clinton and Olosegun Obasanjo. Melbourne, Australia, was the other city selected from Oceania.
As part of the 100 Resilient Cities Network, Christchurch will receive support to hire a Chief Resilience Officer, create a resilience strategy, and receive access to tools, technical support and resources for implementing a comprehensive resilience plan.
